About Us

Greetings,

I am honored to introduce you to the official website of the Towanda Community Fire Protection District, an organization of 20 dedicated men and women serving the community and township of Towanda. I hope as you visit our website, you find it very helpful, informative, and a valuable resource for the residents of the community.

The fire department was established as a Village Fire Department in 1946. In 1961 the voters approved a referendum to form what is now known as the Towanda Community Fire Protection District. The Towanda Community Fire Protection District covers approximately 45 square miles. As you can imagine, the District has seen many changes in the community and to this department over the past 70 years of existence. However, one thing that has remained constant is the Towanda Community Fire Protection District’s unwavering dedication and commitment to serving our community.

“The mission of Towanda Community Fire Protection District is protecting life and property; minimizing the impacts of fire, medical emergencies, and other natural or man-made disasters without subjecting our personnel to unreasonable risk. Our mission is accomplished through public education, fire prevention, fire suppression, and emergency medical services. We are dedicated to completing our objectives in a competent, professional, fiscally responsible manner.”

As Fire Chief, I have the privilege to serve this great community alongside many dedicated and talented fire service professionals. The highly trained and professional men and women of our district respond to almost 160 incidents annually. These incidents comprise of structure fires, medical emergencies, car accidents, vehicle fires, and vegetation fires.

I trust you will find the website helpful and informative.

Thank you for visiting our website and for becoming acquainted with the Towanda Community Fire Protection District.

Brett Lueschen,

Fire Chief
